ROUGH SEAS MAKE GREAT SAILORS

Been contemplating a lot about life lately. What it is, the meaning of, our purpose and if any of it really matters in the end.

The death of a friend will do that to you.

I didn’t know Allysson Nascimento for very long, but it was blatantly obvious that he lived with some sort of higher purpose. He impacted so many people in such a positive way just by being the best version of himself at all times. The quiet confidence he exuded, the shy sincere smile he shared and the dedication he displayed in everything he did were just a few traits that stood out to me. He was here to make people happy and to show the world that with hard work, dedication and a smile you truly can excel at anything.

The question that then comes to mind is; was this purpose god given or is it manifested within ones self? To Allysson and his family I’m sure they would say god, however to someone who doesn’t align with any ‘religion’ of sorts I would be inclined to say the latter. I believe that we write our own destiny each and everyday with each and every action we make. The circumstances of each situation matter very little when it comes down to it, only how you react. Every time we’re kind or cruel, elated or sad, big or small and every time we choose to do the right or wrong thing we shape not only ourselves as human beings but the entirety of the world around us.

Life is happening around you right now whether you like it or not and unfortunately death is a very real part of that, no matter how tragic it may be. Does this mean there’s always a reason for such tragedy, that’s up to you to decide. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from the losses in my life, it’s that life is fucking precious and much shorter than most can comprehend. Live each day as though it’s all there is, put in the hours to achieve your dreams and make a positive difference while you’re here. If not for your self, for those like Allysson who no longer have the chance.

I know what I’ll be doing

Much love,

Jevy
